Tina Fey recently discussed why she doesn’t have a brand alongside her acting career during an appearance on the Good Hang podcast, hosted by her Saturday Night Live co-star, Amy Poehler. Fey made some bold statements about her discomfort with wealthy people who pursue side hustles despite already earning well in their primary careers.
The conversation began when Poehler introduced Fey to the podcast audience, humorously noting that Fey tends to be “late to trends” by 5 to 6 years, referring to her hosting a podcast. Poehler went on to compliment Fey’s hair, even suggesting she should do a hair campaign or create a glasses line.
To this, Fey jokingly responded, “I do kind of hate money,” and added that she’s “terrible with money.” However, she quickly clarified her position, saying, “I have a problem with rich people having a side hustle.”
Poehler pressed further, asking if Fey was referring to celebrities who branch out into business ventures beyond their careers, or if it was about podcasts. Fey explained that she doesn’t have an issue with podcasts but believes there should be a limit when it comes to how much money someone is already earning. She admitted to judging those who take on such extra ventures when they already have more than enough.
Fey’s comments reflect her stance on the growing trend of celebrities capitalizing on their fame to pursue various business ventures, even when they are already financially secure.
