Abigail Spencer, best known for her roles in Rectify and Grey’s Anatomy, recently shared a humorous behind-the-scenes moment from her time filming With Love, Meghan, the Netflix lifestyle show hosted by her longtime friend, Meghan Markle.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, Spencer revealed that while she was thrilled to be part of Markle’s show, she didn’t expect to receive an unexpected challenge—cooking lessons from the Duchess herself.

“It was so funny when she told me she was going to teach me how to cook fish. I was like, ‘I’m sorry, you’re what?’ And I didn’t even know where anything was in that kitchen,” Spencer recounted.

The actress humorously compared the experience to an Olympic swimming event, saying Markle was “doing butterfly kicks, trying to win a gold medal, and I’m just doggy paddling above the surface!”

Markle quickly picked up on her friend’s struggles in the kitchen. During the episode, as Spencer, Markle, and their friend Kelly McKee Zajfen prepared salt-baked fish over mimosas, the Duchess playfully noted that while Kelly is an excellent cook, “Abby has other strengths.”

For those who may not know, Spencer and Markle’s friendship dates back 18 years to their early audition days. However, their bond deepened when they became co-stars on Suits, where Markle played Rachel Zane and Spencer portrayed Dana Scott.

With Love, Meghan is now streaming on Netflix.
