Dr. Sophie Chandauka has continued to shed light on behind-the-scenes tensions between herself and Prince Harry following his recent departure from Sentebale. In a revealing interview with Sky News, the Sentebale chairperson did not hold back, detailing the issues that led to their fallout.
Dr. Chandauka disclosed that Prince Harry’s request to bring a Netflix camera crew to a charity event in Miami ultimately led to the loss of the planned venue.
“About a month before the event was about to take place, Prince Harry called the team and said, ‘I’m doing a Netflix show, and I would love to bring a camera crew so that I can include some footage in this show,’” she explained.
While this might have seemed like a reasonable request, it reportedly created logistical and financial complications. The property owners and sponsors had not consented to being filmed for the show. This forced Sentebale to renegotiate the terms of the venue rental, but the new costs were too high.
“The venue owner said this is now a commercial undertaking. So here are my terms. We couldn’t afford it. So now we lost the venue,” Dr. Chandauka revealed.
Despite this setback, Prince Harry was eventually able to secure another location in Florida for the 2024 Polo charity event.
Beyond the Netflix controversy, Dr. Chandauka also alleged that Meghan Markle’s unexpected attendance at the event—alongside her close friend Serena Williams—caused logistical issues.
She claimed that Meghan specifically asked her to move further left on stage, instead of standing next to Prince Harry, which disrupted the event’s planned choreography.
“The choreography went badly on stage because we had too many people,” she stated, adding that the “international press” took note of the awkwardness.
In the aftermath, Prince Harry reportedly asked Dr. Chandauka to release a statement in support of Meghan. However, she declined, asserting that the charity should not be seen as “an extension of the Sussexes.”
These revelations add another layer of drama to Prince Harry’s exit from Sentebale, highlighting the ongoing tensions surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s public and philanthropic endeavors.
