Los Angeles Dodgers’ first baseman Freddie Freeman gave fans an unforgettable opening to the World Series on Friday, October 25, hitting a walk-off grand slam that clinched a 6-3 victory against the New York Yankees. However, it wasn’t just his historic swing that stole the spotlight; his postgame celebration with his wife, Chelsea Freeman, brought even more excitement to the field.
Freeman runs to wife Chelsea
After securing the Dodgers’ win, Freeman, 35, dashed across the field to where Chelsea, 33, waited by the edge of the diamond. The couple immediately embraced, sharing a bear hug and a kiss for the cameras. The scene captured the close-knit nature of the Freeman family, who had come out to support him in force for the big game.
Chelsea marked the milestone on social media with an Instagram Story that read, “!!!!!!! WALK OFF GRAND SLAM,” adding, “Am I dreaming or is this real life?!”
Celebration starts with his dad
Freeman’s first stop after his winning swing was actually his father, Fred Freeman, who had been a central figure in Freddie’s baseball journey. In a postgame interview, Freddie shared how much his dad’s role in his career has meant: “My swing is because of him. My approach is because of him. I am who I am because of him,” Freddie said. The two shared a high-five before Freddie ran to Chelsea, signifying the special bond he shares with both his father and his wife.
Alongside Fred Freeman, Chelsea watched the game with their three sons, 8-year-old Charlie, and twin boys Brandon and Max, 3. Max’s presence was particularly meaningful, as he recently overcame a challenging battle with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Together, the family was able to celebrate this milestone for Freddie, who joined the Dodgers in 2022 after winning a previous World Series title with the Atlanta Braves.
Freeman’s walk-off grand slam has given the Dodgers an early edge in the series, bringing excitement and setting a hopeful tone for what’s to come. For Freeman, celebrating the moment with his family in attendance added a deeply personal touch to an already unforgettable night on the field.
