Strands is the latest daily puzzle from the New York Times, offering a fresh twist on the classic word search. It’s a bit more challenging, so you’ll need sharp eyes and a good strategy to solve it.
How to Play NYT Strands
In each game of Strands, your objective is to uncover specific “theme words” hidden within a grid of letters. To do this, drag or tap the letters to form words, and when you’re done, double-tap the last letter to confirm. If you’ve found a theme word, it will turn blue, and the letters won’t be usable anymore.
If you spot words that aren’t theme words, don’t worry—they’re still useful! For every three extra words that are at least four letters long, you’ll get a hint, which reveals letters from one of the theme words. All you’ll have to do is unscramble those letters to uncover it.
Here’s an extra challenge: every letter in the grid will be used exactly once, and none of the words will overlap. One of the special features of Strands is the spangram—a long theme word that stretches across the puzzle from one side to the other, giving you a big hint about the theme.
