The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a tough situation with rookie right tackle Troy Fautanu, who suffered a knee injury during the team’s final practice ahead of their Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicate that Fautanu will be “sidelined indefinitely” while evaluations continue, and the specifics of his injury are still unclear.
This isn’t Fautanu’s first knee issue; he previously missed the last two preseason games due to a knee injury, although it’s not confirmed if it’s the same one.
Fautanu was drafted in the first round in 2024 and recently stepped into the starting lineup after a rotation with fellow first-round pick Broderick Jones, who had been benched during the last game, allowing Fautanu to secure a starting position.
With Fautanu now out for an unknown duration, Jones is expected to take over at right tackle again. Meanwhile, veteran Dan Moore has been performing well at left tackle this season.
The Steelers are set to face the Chargers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, September 22, kicking off at 1 p.m. ET.
