Mojang Studios has just announced that Minecraft will stop supporting PlayStation VR starting March 2025. This update was buried in the latest Minecraft patch notes.
What this means is that after March 2025, PlayStation VR players won’t get any new updates or features for Minecraft. But don’t worry—players will still be able to use their PS4 or PS5 consoles to play Minecraft, access their saved worlds, and use any Marketplace purchases like Tokens.
The dedicated Minecraft VR webpage has also been taken down, so if you try to visit it now, you’ll just see an error message.
On the bright side, Mojang is developing a version of Minecraft specifically for the PS5, though it’s unclear if they plan to make the game available for the new PlayStation VR2. Additionally, instead of one big free update each summer, Minecraft will now get multiple smaller content updates throughout the year. This shift is part of Mojang’s effort to keep Minecraft fresh and exciting over the long haul.
