Apple is preparing to significantly expand the capabilities of its AI-powered assistant, Apple Intelligence, by adding support for five new languages in 2025. According to a company announcement, the enhanced voice assistant will soon be available in German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Vietnamese, a move aimed at broadening its global reach and improving accessibility.
Apple Intelligence, which powers Siri and other AI-driven functions across Apple’s ecosystem, has been a core part of the company’s strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday tasks. By expanding language support, Apple is positioning itself to serve a more diverse user base while keeping pace with competitors such as Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa, both of which already offer extensive multilingual capabilities.
The new languages will be supported across all Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and HomePods. This expansion comes as part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to enhance the performance and versatility of its AI assistant, which has faced criticism in the past for lagging behind rivals in terms of voice recognition and contextual understanding.
“We are committed to making Apple Intelligence a truly global assistant, capable of understanding and responding to users in their native languages,” mentioned Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. Federighi also said that this expansion marks another step towards creating an AI assistant that can cater to users needs all around the world.
The inclusion of German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Vietnamese reflects Apple’s recognition of its growing user base in these regions, particularly in Asia and Europe. The rollout of these new language capabilities is expected to coincide with broader updates to Apple’s AI offerings, including improved natural language processing and more localized responses tailored to cultural contexts.
