A strange bug is affecting notifications from the Google Home app linked with Nest devices on Google Pixel 9 series devices. Several users have reported that notifications from Nest devices, such as motion or security alerts, are not being sent to their phones. This issue has been observed across multiple Pixel 9 devices, including Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, despite all settings in the Google Home app appearing to be correctly configured.
The Google Home app’s notifications are crucial for users with Nest devices, as they provide alerts for various events like motion detection or security breaches through the company’s cameras. However, early adopters of the Pixel 9 series are facing problems with these notifications not being delivered, leading to frustration.
Reports have surfaced across multiple Reddit threads, as well as on Google’s Nest forums, indicating a widespread issue affecting Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL users. Interestingly, the issue was not detected on older devices, suggesting that this bug is specific to the Pixel 9 series. One user mentioned that while they experienced the issue on their Pixel 9 Pro Fold, their Pixel 9 Pro XL was unaffected.
Fortunately, a quick fix seems to be available for those facing this issue. By uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home app, notifications from Nest devices start working again for most users. However, this method doesn’t work for everyone, as some reports suggest that the issue persists even after re-installing the app. Google has yet to officially acknowledge or address this bug, leaving some users in limbo.
This glitch has drawn attention to how reliant users are on the functionality of the Google Home app, especially when it comes to Nest devices. With the issue persisting on multiple devices, many are eager for Google to release an official fix or update.
