If the LG C4 OLED TV is beyond your budget, Hisense has a promising alternative with the new A85N model. Set to launch in September 2024 in Germany, and potentially reaching the UK in October 2024, the Hisense A85N offers similar high-quality visuals at a more affordable price.
The Hisense A85N excels in HDR support, offering compatibility with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ. The 55-inch LG C4 is priced at €2,399 in Germany, whereas the Hisense A85N is available at a much lower price of €1,600. The 65-inch model of the Hisense A85N is also priced attractively at €2,200.
The A85N boasts impressive specifications, including a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, matching the LG C4. The TV supports a 144Hz refresh rate and is equipped with two 6W speakers, although users might want to invest in a quality soundbar for an enhanced audio experience. It features four HDMI ports, two of which are HDMI 2.1, providing support for ALLM and VRR, which is beneficial for gamers.
The Hisense A85N excels in HDR support, offering compatibility with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ. It also supports IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Atmos, and DTS sound. The operating system, Vidaa, includes popular streaming apps and supports AirPlay 2 but lacks Chromecast.
Although the Hisense A85N’s processor and firmware differ from the LG C4, the use of the same high-quality OLED panel at a lower price point makes it a competitive option in the OLED TV market. Compared to other models like the LG B4, which is less bright and more expensive, the Hisense A85N offers a compelling value for its performance and features.
