Strands is a fresh daily puzzle from the New York Times that puts a unique twist on the classic word search. It’s more challenging and requires sharp attention to detail.
Just like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, some days are trickier than others. There’s no shame in needing a little nudge now and then. If you’re stuck and want to see today’s Strands answers, we’ve got you covered below.
How to Play Strands
In each Strands puzzle, your task is to find the “theme words” hidden in a grid of letters. You can move letters around by dragging or tapping them to form words, and you double-tap the final letter to confirm your selection. When you correctly identify a theme word, those letters will turn blue and can no longer be used.
But finding words outside the theme still has its perks! Every time you discover three non-theme words that are at least four letters long, you’ll get a hint. This hint reveals the letters of one of the theme words, and your job is to unscramble them.
In Strands, every letter in the grid is used to create the theme words, and there’s no overlap—each letter is used just once.
A special feature in every puzzle is the “spangram.” This is a standout theme word that stretches across two opposite sides of the grid and usually helps identify the puzzle’s theme. When you find the spangram, it’ll be highlighted in yellow.
Your goal is to solve the puzzle as quickly as possible, using as few hints as you can.
