Google’s new Pixel 9 Pro Fold is unable to charge via the Pixel Stand 2 due to an incompatibility caused by the positioning of its charging coil. This issue has rendered the accessory largely ineffective for owners of the latest foldable device, drawing criticism and frustration from users who expected seamless integration with Google’s charging ecosystem.
The Pixel Stand 2, designed to offer fast wireless charging and a range of smart features, was anticipated to complement the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s cutting-edge technology. However, it has come to light that the stand’s charging coil does not align with the coil in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, preventing the device from charging when placed on the stand.
Google confirmed the issue in a statement, acknowledging the misalignment between the Pixel Stand 2 and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. “We are aware of the compatibility issue affecting the Pixel 9 Pro Fold with the Pixel Stand 2,” said a Google spokesperson. “Our team is working to address this, and we appreciate our users’ patience as we resolve the matter.”
The misalignment has left many users dismayed, as the Pixel Stand 2 was marketed as a key accessory for Google’s latest devices, promising an enhanced charging experience. The inability to charge the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on this stand limits the device’s functionality and convenience, particularly for those who invested in the accessory as part of their overall Pixel ecosystem.
In response to the issue, Google has indicated that a firmware update or hardware revision may be required to resolve the problem. In the interim, users are advised to use alternative charging methods, such as wired charging or other wireless charging pads that align with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s design.
