In Friday’s episode of Emmerdale (ITV, 7.30pm, check our TV Guide for full listings), Amy Barton is gripped with fear for her husband Matty Barton. After leaving work early, Amy didn’t foresee the nightmare that would unfold.

Earlier, Amy was subjected to unwelcome advances from Josh, the friend of Samson Dingle, despite being married to Matty, the bar manager.

While Amy was enjoying a drink at the Woolpack, Matty was left dealing with a tense situation. Josh, who had been taunting Matty with transphobic remarks all evening, escalated the situation by shoving Samson onto Matty, who was holding a knife while clearing away cutlery.

Josh quickly turned the blame onto Matty, falsely claiming that Matty had lunged at them with the knife.

As the police arrive to investigate, the truth of the incident hangs in the balance. The critical question is whether Samson will defend his cousin Matty against the false accusations.

The unfolding drama leaves the Dingles and Bartons in a difficult position, particularly Cain Dingle, who is both Samson’s uncle and Matty’s stepdad. Will Cain believe in Matty’s innocence, or will the family rift deepen?

Tune in to Emmerdale weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV to see how the story develops.
