In January 2018, when news of Daniels’ alleged affair with Trump surfaced, Crain found himself embroiled in the scandal. He disclosed that he was the recipient of the $130,000 payment facilitated by Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, although he denied knowledge of the sexual encounter between Daniels and Trump. Crain eventually filed for divorce, citing Daniels’ affair with Denver Nicks, one of the filmmakers working on the documentary “Stormy.” Despite initially seeking sole custody of their daughter, a joint custody arrangement was eventually agreed upon. Both parties expressed a desire to focus on co-parenting amicably.
Their marriage reached a breaking point when Daniels was arrested in July 2018 for allegedly inappropriate conduct in an Ohio strip club. Although the charges were later dropped, the incident exacerbated tensions in their relationship. Crain, reportedly overwhelmed by the negative publicity surrounding Daniels’ arrest, withdrew funds from their joint bank account and took their daughter, leading to a temporary restraining order preventing Daniels from seeing her child.
