Chris Hemsworth, an undeniable A-lister in Hollywood, harbors a deep admiration for fellow actor Brad Pitt, whom he credits as his inspiration for entering the world of acting. The extent of Hemsworth’s reverence for Pitt is such that he even named one of his sons after a legendary character portrayed by Pitt in the film “Legends of the Fall.”
Growing up, Hemsworth was captivated by Pitt’s portrayal of the wounded rancher Tristan Ludlow in “Legends of the Fall,” considering him to be the epitome of on-screen beauty. Decades later, when Hemsworth and his wife were expecting twins, they revisited the film, reaffirming Hemsworth’s belief in the character’s coolness and prompting them to name one of their children Tristan.
Despite spending nearly two decades in the entertainment industry, Hemsworth had never crossed paths with his idol, Brad Pitt. However, fate intervened at the after-party of Pitt’s 2019 film “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.” Hemsworth found himself in a corner, initially hesitant to approach Pitt, until his agent encouraged him to introduce himself. Their meeting was marked by a humorous exchange, with Hemsworth accidentally going in for a hug instead of a handshake, much to Pitt’s amusement.
Reflecting on his journey in Hollywood, Hemsworth acknowledges the challenges he faced early on, feeling relegated to roles that emphasized his physicality rather than his acting abilities. However, his breakthrough role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe catapulted him to international fame and success. Despite initial doubts about his ability to embody the iconic superhero, Hemsworth’s portrayal resonated with audiences, solidifying his place in the industry.
While grateful for his success, Hemsworth admits to feeling overwhelmed at times, particularly by the weight of his achievements coming from a working-class background. His role in the film “Rush,” where he portrayed Formula 1 driver James Hunt, allowed him to break free from the constraints of typecasting and delve into more complex characters. Now, with “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” on the horizon, Hemsworth eagerly anticipates the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, with a wish list of future projects to fuel his ambition and creativity.
