The rivalry between Pop-Tarts and Jerry Seinfeld reached new heights with the comedian’s upcoming movie, “Unfrosted,” a fictional origin story of the iconic breakfast treat. Seinfeld directed and co-wrote the Netflix film, which is set to premiere on May 3. Interestingly, Pop-Tarts had no involvement in the making of “Unfrosted.”

In a promotional digital short released on April 29, Seinfeld finds himself summoned to a meeting with Kelman P. Gasworth, the fictional president of Pop-Tarts, to discuss trademark infringement. Gasworth accuses Seinfeld of referencing 221 trademark breakfast products without permission, leading to a showdown between Seinfeld and the Pop-Tarts team.

Gasworth unveils his retaliation by revealing three Seinfeld characters—Schmoopie, Jackie Chiles, and the Soup Nazi—brought to life by Ali Wentworth, Phil Morris, and Larry Thomas, respectively. Gasworth claims ownership of these characters, sparking a humorous exchange between him and Seinfeld.

Seinfeld retaliates with a witty remark about Gasworth’s new show, “People in Pontiacs Eating Pop-Tarts,” a nod to Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” Despite the confrontation, Pop-Tarts embraces the attention, noting that the movie is “farce, not fact,” and even releases a limited edition strawberry Trat-Pops to support “Unfrosted.”

With Melissa McCarthy and Hugh Grant also starring in “Unfrosted,” the rivalry between Pop-Tarts and Jerry Seinfeld promises to be a comedic spectacle both on and off the screen.
