The release of the ID docuseries “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” has brought to light the disturbing experiences of former Nickelodeon actor Drake Bell and others who suffered abuse during their time as child stars for the network. This revelation has sparked concern for Bell’s co-stars on “Drake & Josh,” particularly Miranda Cosgrove, who played the role of Megan.
Unlike Bell, Cosgrove has not come forward about any abuse she may have experienced during her time as a Nickelodeon star. Her experience with fame at a young age seems to have been more rewarding than Bell’s. Since her Nickelodeon career ended, Cosgrove has remained active in the acting industry, maintaining her fame through various screen and voice acting roles.
Cosgrove’s most notable role is voicing Margo in the “Despicable Me” franchise. She also reprised her role as Carly Shay for Paramount Plus’ “iCarly” revival, which lasted for two seasons before being canceled in 2023. Despite the cancellation, Cosgrove remains in demand, with three new movies set to be released in 2024.
While Cosgrove has managed to keep her personal life private, she has not been immune to troubling incidents. In 2014, she filed a restraining order against a stalker who had followed her and sent her unsolicited gifts. The situation escalated tragically in 2016 when the stalker broke into Cosgrove’s backyard and shot at a woman he believed to be Cosgrove before taking his own life.
Cosgrove has since spoken about the incident, expressing shock and disbelief at the events that unfolded. Despite this alarming incident, Cosgrove has remained focused on her career and philanthropic efforts, avoiding the scandals that have plagued some of her peers.
