Meta (formerly Facebook) CEO Tom Alison said the company is investing heavily in AI and plans to build a massive AI systemto spread video recommendations across all platforms.
Meta’s technology roadmap extending to 2026 includes the creation of an artificial intelligence model that can provide videoinstructions for short content like Reels and longer videos of movies.
In the past, Meta used separate AI models, groups and Facebook feeds for different products such as Reels. However, thecompany is currently developing a collaborative consensus model to develop AI capabilities.
To increase its AI capabilities, Meta has invested billions of dollars in Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs), which havebecome indispensable for training large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT.
Meta’s technology roadmap “Phase 1″ moves to GPUs to improve product quality. Last year, Meta developed a new modelthat could process more data, resulting in an 8% to 10% increase in view time on Reels’ Facebook app.
Currently in “Phase 3″ of its restructuring, Meta aims to leverage technology and expand its use across multiple products, engagement and ability to drive relevance of offer.
The ultimate goal is to power Meta’s entire video ecosystem with a single intelligence model, making it more responsive andengaging to suggestions. For example, if a user shows interest in a topic on Reels, the same topic will be reflected in theirFacebook feed.
Meta envisions integrating generative AI into many aspects of the customer environment, including core flows and teams. This allows users to interact with a digital assistant to complete tasks such as finding information on a particular topic orgetting personalized recommendations in communities of interest.
Alison believes Meta has the opportunity to create a cross-platform platform that revolutionizes the way consumersinteract with generative AI, providing a more interactive experience.
