Iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen surprised fans with a special appearance at country star Zach Bryan’s concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Wednesday night. Just 48 hours after a show in San Diego and less than a day before his scheduled performance at San Francisco’s Chase Center, Springsteen took the stage alongside Bryan for an unforgettable collaboration.

Bryan, donning a Springsteen shirt, warmly welcomed the 74-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer to join him for a rendition of his new, unreleased song “Sandpaper” as well as Bryan’s own track “Revival.” The crowd erupted as Springsteen traded lyrics with Bryan on “Sandpaper” and delivered a mesmerizing guitar solo on his iconic Fender guitar during “Revival.”

The surprise guest didn’t stop there. Singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, featured on Bryan’s “Dawns,” also joined the duo on stage earlier in the evening and returned for the encores alongside Springsteen.

While Springsteen’s impromptu appearance undoubtedly thrilled fans at the Barclays Center, it’s not entirely out of character for the legendary musician. Known for his spontaneous performances and willingness to join fellow artists on stage, Springsteen has a history of surprising audiences whenever the opportunity arises.

Bryan, whose “Quittin Time” tour has been drawing record-breaking crowds, recently made headlines by breaking an attendance record at the Prudential Center in Newark, Springsteen’s home state of New Jersey. With an impressive turnout of 19,151 guests, Bryan’s show marked the highest attendance ever for a single event in the arena’s 16-plus year history.

As for Springsteen, he’s currently on tour with the E Street Band, which includes rescheduled dates from last year following his health issues. The tour spans across the United States, with European shows also on the horizon. Additionally, on April 24, Springsteen will make an appearance at Monmouth University for the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music’s second annual American Music Honors event, where he’ll join fellow music icons in honoring artists such as John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, and Dion DiMucci. With Stevie Van Zandt’s Disciples of Soul serving as the house band, the event promises to be a memorable celebration of music and talent.
