Beef Stroganoff is a beloved Russian dish featuring tender beef strips smothered in a creamy mushroom sauce. This recipe offers a delightful blend of savory flavors and creamy textures, making it a comforting favorite for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- Season beef slices with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add beef slices to the skillet and cook until browned on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, and cook until mushrooms are golden brown and tender.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Stir in sour cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined. Return beef slices to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until heated through.
- Serve beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy this creamy Russian classic!
