The acclaimed post-apocalyptic series, The Last of Us, surprisingly failed to secure any awards at the 2024 Emmy Awards ceremony. Despite the series generating significant anticipation and being predicted by some as a strong contender for “best show of the year,” it faced formidable competition from shows like The Bear Season 2 and Succession Season 4.
Succession dominated the drama categories, with two of its stars winning Best Actor and Best Actress, beating out The Last of Us contenders Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal. While the lack of recognition for The Last of Us at the awards ceremony disappointed some, fans were treated to a glimpse of Max’s live-action portrayal of Joel Miller.
Pedro Pascal, who presented the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, used the opportunity to humorously address the competition. Despite losing the Best Actor award to Kieran Culkin, Pascal, known as the internet’s “daddy,” added a playful touch to the ceremony. Accompanied by his sister Lux and sporting a sling for his injured shoulder, Pascal joked about taking a moment to “make this about me” and playfully suggested that Culkin had “beat the shit out of” him, earning him the unique Emmy ensemble.
While Pascal may not have secured an Emmy on this occasion, his charismatic stage presence and humorous remarks ensured that he continues to be a beloved figure on the internet.
