Minecraft enthusiasts are voicing their concerns and urging developers to modify the recently introduced Armadillo mob. While the proposed change might not drastically alter gameplay mechanics, there’s a widespread consensus among players that adjustments to the Armadillo’s design are necessary.

During Minecraft Live 2023, a poll was conducted, allowing players to select the next mob addition to the game. The Armadillo contended against the Crab and the Penguin and emerged as the chosen victor. However, despite this victory, discontent has arisen among fans since its implementation in the game’s beta and preview versions, particularly concerning its appearance.

The discontent revolves around the positioning of the Armadillo’s eyes. Originally revealed with eyes positioned on the sides of its face during the mob voting phase, the finalized version introduced in the game’s beta mode showcased its eyes relocated to the front of its face. Following this alteration, numerous players took to social media platforms, urging Mojang to revert this specific change.

While some players simply find the Armadillo “ugly,” a larger portion raised concerns about its departure from the real-world appearance of armadillos. Typically, armadillos possess eyes on the sides of their face, not the front. The rationale behind Mojang’s decision to alter this feature from the beta design remains unclear. Given that the Minecraft mob update hasn’t yet launched in the standard game mode, there exists a possibility for reversion based on player feedback.

However, it’s important to note that the Armadillo’s design aligns with Minecraft’s representation of real-life animals. In Minecraft, creatures like cows, chickens, and rabbits have their eyes positioned on the front of their faces, diverging from their real-world counterparts. This similarity in design might diminish the likelihood of a change, as maintaining consistency in eye placement could help the Armadillo blend in with other game creatures.

As of now, whether Mojang will address the design of the Minecraft Armadillo remains uncertain. If no alterations are made, it’s conceivable that a player-generated mod might emerge to adjust the appearance to a more realistic depiction. Minecraft enthusiasts will have to await further developments to see how Mojang responds to this player feedback.
