Though still a work in progress, the creator is confident that only a few final touches remain before their envisioned Slither Wing comes to vibrant life.
For years, Pokémon enthusiasts have been expressing their adoration for the series through diverse physical art forms, ranging from exquisite illustrations and sculptures resembling museum pieces to more specialized mediums like needle felting. Among these devoted fans, one individual skilled in this craft has taken on an ambitious task: crafting a felt rendition of Slither Wing.
In a recent post on the r/Pokemon subreddit dated December 13, user Umhihowareya showcased a video detailing their ongoing felt project. The sizable, fuzzy creation strikingly mirrors the Bug/Fighting type Paradox Pokémon, Slither Wing, introduced in the ninth-generation games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Umhihowareya meticulously replicated the moth-like Pokémon’s characteristics, from the crimson horns adorning Slither Wing’s face to its expansive wings displaying a distinctive gradient pattern. Community members lauded this work, using terms like “awesome,” “beautiful,” and “glorious” to describe the craftsmanship. Umhihowareya shared that final touches are required for the felt Slither Wing’s tail spikes and fluff to complete the project.
This isn’t the first instance where a Pokémon enthusiast has endeavored to recreate an iconic monster in felt form. Another Reddit user, bbobblob, crafted a felt doll resembling the Ghost/Dark type Pokémon, Spiritomb. Despite Spiritomb being portrayed as a mischievous entity resembling a mass of ghostly energy with eerie eyes, bbobblob’s rendition presents it as an adorable, cuddly mushroom ready to be embraced by its trainer.
Beyond felt figures, Slither Wing has inspired various other renditions. A Redditor named Macksi_ drew a fusion of Slither Wing with the Ground/Dragon type Pokémon, Flygon, birthing a new creature dubbed “Spliced Gene.” While unofficial, Macksi_’s illustration is so convincing that it could easily deceive someone into believing that Spliced Gene is an actual Pokémon.
These imaginative creations are commonplace within the Pokémon community, showcasing the remarkable creativity of its fans. Recently, a piece by Reddit user PhatmonMonstraros gained attention by envisioning a Paradox form of the legendary Pokémon Entei. As Entei stands as the sole one among the three legendary beasts of Pokémon’s Johto region without a Paradox version, artists like PhatmonMonstraros provide fellow fans with intriguing speculation about what this special form might resemble if ever released.
