As Marvel’s Disney Plus content approaches its three-year mark, it’s striking to note that only one live-action series has received a second season within that timeframe. That exceptional series happened to be the second installment of “Loki,” an entry in the Multiverse Saga that garnered widespread acclaim. Considering its immense popularity, it’s reasonable to expect Marvel to pursue additional sophomore seasons for other shows in the future. However, not every Disney Plus series released thus far is well-suited for a second season. For instance, don’t anticipate a follow-up to “Secret Invasion” anytime soon. Yet, “Moon Knight” stands out as a series that is practically begging for another round of episodes.
Despite its six-part debut season, “Moon Knight” seemed to have only scratched the surface of Oscar Isaac’s multifaceted portrayal of the hero, particularly with the post-credits scene revealing the existence of his third alter ego, Jake Lockley. However, even though the first season concluded back in the summer of 2022, there hasn’t been an official update regarding its renewal for a second season. So, the burning question remains: is “Moon Knight” Season 2 actually in the works? Let’s shed some light on the subject.
The current buzz in the dormant “Moon Knight” fandom suggests the possibility of a second season. However, it’s crucial to highlight that these rumors are currently circulating on social media without any official announcement or confirmation about the show’s return.
According to hearsay, Marvel Studios is reportedly developing another installment featuring Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector/Steven Grant. Notably, this isn’t the first time such information has surfaced. In fact, Isaac himself has been open about ongoing discussions with the studio regarding his return as the character(s).
In an interview from October 2022, Isaac hinted at these talks, stating, “There have been some specific conversations. They were pleasant. The spilling of the details is that there’s no details. We don’t know [if there will be a second season], but we’re talking about it.”
Regrettably, this remains the closest fans have come to receiving any official update about the future of “Moon Knight.” Nevertheless, Isaac has also suggested the potential for collaboration with the Midnight Sons in a supernatural superhero team-up project. Hence, even if a second season isn’t confirmed, it doesn’t necessarily spell the end of Isaac’s involvement in the MCU.
For those who believe where there’s smoke, there’s fire, the frequent and persistent rumors about “Moon Knight” Season 2 might indicate that Marvel indeed has something brewing behind the scenes, possibly leading to concrete confirmation in the future. Perhaps the much-anticipated revelation could occur at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024?
