The kitchen is officially closing. Following the surprise release of the standalone flashback episode “Gary” yesterday, FX and Hulu have confirmed that The Bear will conclude with its fifth and final season. As the most decorated comedy-drama in recent history, the series is preparing for one last high-stakes service to determine the legacy of the Berzatto family.

The Bear Season 5 Official Release Date

The wait for the final course is remarkably short. FX officially announced on May 6, 2026, that the series finale is just weeks away.

  •  Release Date: Thursday, June 25, 2026.
  •  Platform:All eight episodes will drop simultaneously on Hulu (and JioHotstar in India).
  •  Linear Airing: FX will air the first two episodes on June 25, followed by one new episode weekly for those watching on cable.

The Bear Season 5 Cast: The Final Ensemble

The core crew of The Bear is locked in for the finale, though the group’s dynamic has been fundamentally altered by the events of Season 4.

  •  The New Partners: Ayo Edebiri (Sydney), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Richie), and Abby Elliott (Natalie/Sugar) return as the new leadership of the restaurant.
  •  The Lead: Jeremy Allen White reprises his role as Carmy, though his presence this season will be shaped by his decision to walk away from the professional kitchen.
  •  The Kitchen Staff: Lionel Boyce (Marcus), Liza Colón-Zayas (Tina), and Matty Matheson (Neil Fak) are all confirmed.
  •  Elite Guest Stars: Expect final appearances from Jamie Lee Curtis (Donna Berzatto), Oliver Platt (Uncle Jimmy), and Will Poulter (Luca). Jon Bernthal is also expected to feature in further flashbacks following his leading turn in the “Gary” special.

Potential Plot: One Last Service

Season 5 picks up the very morning after the Season 4 finale, dealing with the shockwave of Carmy’s departure. Having signed over his stake and quit the food industry, Carmy has left the restaurant entirely in the hands of Sydney, Richie, and Natalie.

The final eight episodes will focus on several “ticking clock” conflicts:

  1.  The Michelin Dream: With the restaurant facing a total lack of funding and the immediate threat of a sale, the new partners decide on a “scorched earth” strategy: one final, perfect service to secure a Michelin Star and save the business.
  2.  The Great Storm: A torrential storm in Chicago serves as the physical manifestation of the show’s internal chaos, threatening to shut down the restaurant on the very night it needs to be perfect.
  3.  Carmy’s Aftermath: The season will explore Carmy’s life outside the kitchen. After years of defining himself through “the work,” he must navigate a quiet life that he finds both terrifying and necessary.
  4.  The People Over the Plates: The official logline suggests a shift in theme, moving from the pursuit of culinary perfection to the realization that the “perfect” restaurant is defined by the people inside it, not the food on the pass.

As per reports, the decision to end the show with Season 5 was a mutual agreement between creator Christopher Storer and the cast, who felt that the narrative reached its natural peak with the “Gary” flashback and the resolution of Carmy’s professional burnout. While the show is eligible for the 2026 Emmys for its fourth season, this final run is already being positioned as the frontrunner for the 2027 awards circuit.
