In November 2021, the “Sister Wives” family faced an unexpected upheaval when Christine Brown, Kody Brown’s third wife, announced her decision to leave him after a lengthy marriage spanning more than 25 years. This departure marked a significant shift in their polygamous family structure, triggering subsequent departures of two other sister wives, Meri and Janelle. Presently, only Robyn Brown, Kody’s sole legal wife, remains in the marriage.
Christine dedicated 27 years to Kody and together they raised six children: Aspyn, Mykelti, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, Truely, and Paedon. Signs indicating trouble in their relationship emerged as far back as 2011 when Christine confessed on their TLC show that she no longer felt a sense of importance. Attempts at marriage counseling followed, during which Christine openly admitted she felt their relationship was hanging by a thread. By early 2021, Christine revealed that their intimacy had ceased, and Kody had even conveyed to her that he no longer found her attractive. The breaking point for Christine was when Kody declined to accompany her for their daughter Ysabel’s surgery, deeply hurting both Christine and their daughter.
Despite initial challenges, Christine expressed contentment in her decision to leave Kody, emphasizing to a fan that she felt happier post-divorce. However, navigating the dating scene again proved to be an unfamiliar and daunting experience.
It wasn’t until January 2023 that Christine felt ready to dip her toes into the dating pool. She announced on her Instagram that she was exploring online dating, seeking advice from her followers about dating at 50. Re-entering the dating world proved especially challenging for Christine, who revealed on “Sister Wives” that Kody was the first person she kissed, and it happened after their marriage. Wrestling with her past complications and limited dating experience, she found the process both frustrating and perplexing, struggling with the idea of public dating given her complex history.
Despite these reservations, Christine was clear about her desires in a new partner, expressing a preference for a monogamous relationship founded on mutual love and intimacy.
Determined to find companionship, Christine enlisted the help of a matchmaker, disclosing all aspects of her life, including her public persona, polygamous background, separation from Kody, and her children. Her efforts bore fruit when she met David Woolley in February 2023 through Stir, a dating platform for single parents. Initially skeptical due to conflicting interests in camping, Christine decided to give the connection a chance. As their rapport blossomed, she canceled other planned dates. By April 2023, they were engaged, and within six months, they tied the knot.
Describing their relationship as a perfect fit, Christine emphasized the strong unity and harmony they share. She portrayed David as a source of comfort and stability, solidifying their bond and rendering external matters inconsequential in comparison to their connection.
