A new year has started, and the Discovery Channel is not slowing down. The network has already brought back several popular shows and more are lined up for the rest of 2026.
Discovery Channel is known for real life shows. Most of its content focuses on documentaries and unscripted stories. The channel has been around since 1985 and has built a loyal audience over the years.
Some of its longest running shows are still going strong. Naked and Afraid, Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush, and Moonshiners continue to pull in viewers. Moonshiners helped kick off the 2026 schedule with its 15th season earlier this month.
Moonshiners returned on January 6. New episodes air every Tuesday night. The familiar faces are back and still pushing the limits of their craft.
Expedition X also came back with a new season. Josh Gates and his team returned on January 7. The show continues to explore strange locations and unexplained mysteries every week.
Contraband Seized at the Border returned with Season 8 on January 19. The show follows border agents as they stop illegal items from entering the country. Episodes air on Mondays.
A brand new show also joined the lineup. 120 Hours Behind Bars premiered on January 19. It gives a raw look inside some of the toughest jails in the country over five intense days.
Moonshiners Master Distiller is coming back too. Season 8 premieres on January 27. The competition brings skilled distillers together to battle for bragging rights.
Naked and Afraid returns with Season 19 on February 15. The season starts with a two hour episode. It includes expert survivalists and even social media influencers facing harsh conditions.
Filthy Fortunes is also back. Season 2 premieres on February 15. Matt Paxton and his team once again turn extreme cleanups into big opportunities.
Gold Rush continues into 2026 as well. Season 16 began in 2025 but new episodes are still airing every Friday night.
Discovery Channel has a packed year ahead. More shows may still be added as the schedule continues to grow.
