IT Welcome to Derry may not be done yet. A new report suggests Season 2 is already being developed. HBO Max has not made it official. Still, the signs are strong.

The prequel series brought Pennywise back in a big way. Bill Skarsgård returned as the Dancing Clown. This time, the story was set in 1962. A new group of kids and adults became his targets. The show shocked viewers by tying its story directly to the IT movies. One major reveal connected Marge to Richie Tozier from the Losers’ Club.

Now momentum is building. The Hollywood Reporter claims Season 2 is already in the works behind the scenes. This comes after Season 1 performed extremely well for HBO Max. Given the response, another season feels inevitable.

Andy Muschietti has already shared his long-term plan. He wants three seasons total. Each season moves further back in time. The goal is to explore Pennywise’s past feeding cycles in Derry, Maine.

Season 2 is expected to jump to 1935. That year is infamous in IT lore. It is when the Bradley Gang Massacre happened. The event left Derry scarred and fearful. Pennywise played a role in pushing the town toward violence.

Season 1 already teased what is coming. The finale revealed that Pennywise experiences time differently. He does not follow normal rules. This means he can target people from the same bloodlines across decades. That explains why he attacked Marge and Will Hanlon in 1962.

A brief glimpse of 1935 already appeared in Episode 6. A black and white scene showed Pennywise killing a child inside Juniper Hill Asylum. It was brutal and direct. That moment felt like a warning.

Season 2 is expected to go deeper into the Bradley Gang story. The gang were bank robbers hiding in Derry. The town eventually turned on them. Under Pennywise’s influence, locals ambushed them in public. The massacre was violent and chaotic. Season 1 teased the aftermath when the military uncovered their remains.

The new season will likely introduce a fresh group of main characters. Still, some familiar faces may return. Ingrid Kersh and Rose from the Children of Mathurin are expected to appear. Their presence would help connect the timelines.

Another twist may involve Teresa Bainbridge. A deleted scene revealed she knew about Pennywise all along. This changes everything. In 1935, she would be around the same age as her daughter later was. That fits Pennywise’s pattern of targeting bloodlines.

There is no release date yet. A late 2027 or 2028 premiere seems realistic. The show requires heavy production and visual effects. But with Season 2 already being planned, the wait may not be too long.

For now, one thing is clear. Pennywise’s story in Derry is far from over.
