The second episode of The Beauty ends with a moment no one saw coming. A major star disappears suddenly. Rebecca Hall is gone by the end of the episode.
She plays Jordan Bennett. During a romantic night, her character catches the Beauty STD. That disease does not just make you attractive. It changes your entire body. Jordan wakes up in someone else’s body. That body belongs to Jess Alexander.
The show is built on this strange idea. Once infected, a person turns into the most extreme version of themselves. Not everyone wants that change. Some never choose it at all.
Rebecca Hall found this twist exciting. She said her character did not ask for the transformation. That made it darker and more disturbing. Waking up as someone else felt like a nightmare to her. Still, she loved the idea.
She enjoyed being a surprise exit. She compared it to classic horror moments. Like when a star seems central but vanishes early. She said it was fun to trick the audience that way.
Rebecca Hall was not the only one replaced. Jaquel Spivey’s character Jeremy, also changes bodies. After the transformation, Jeremy is played by Jeremy Pope.
Jaquel Spivey enjoyed the experience for a different reason. It was his first time using heavy prosthetics. He loved the process. A large makeup team helped him shift into multiple versions of the same character.
He also shared what the show really means to him. He believes the story is not about perfect looks. It is about personal truth. Beauty is different for everyone. What feels beautiful to one person may feel wrong to another. He says no one should force their idea of beauty on anyone else.
The Beauty airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on FX and Hulu.
