The excitement for WWE 2K26 is reaching a fever pitch as new leaks suggest some massive changes are coming to the squared circle. According to recent reports from Insider Gaming, the centerpiece of this year’s game will be a Showcase Mode dedicated entirely to CM Punk. This mode is said to be narrated by Punk himself and will feature three distinct parts: a trip through his greatest matches, a “What If” scenario exploring what would have happened if he never left WWE in 2014, and various fantasy matchups against stars he never got to face.

Fans of the Bloodline saga will also be happy to hear that The Island is reportedly making a comeback. This mode was a huge hit in WWE 2K25, and the sequel is set to pick up right where the last story left off. The new campaign will focus on a three-way power struggle for control of the “Island of Relevancy” following the downfall of Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief. One of the new groups involved is rumored to be called the Order of Anarchy, which should add some serious chaos to the storyline.

The gameplay is also getting a nostalgic boost with the return of several classic match types that haven’t been seen in years. Leaks indicate that the I Quit Match and the Inferno Match are finally coming back after a decade-long absence. There are also rumors of a 3 Stages of Hell match and even a brand-new Dumpster Match. These additions suggest that 2K and Visual Concepts are leaning into the high-stakes, “Attitude Era” style of wrestling that many veteran fans have been asking for.

While we still don’t have an official release date, all signs point to a March 2026 launch. Internal communications from 2K have already started mentioning a March window to select players, and a traditional reveal usually happens right around the Royal Rumble on January 31. This event in Saudi Arabia would be the perfect time for WWE to show off the first trailer and confirm the platforms.

One big question remains for PC players who felt left out last year. In the previous game, The Island mode was exclusive to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2. There is no word yet on whether the Steam version will finally get the full experience this time around. Fans are hoping that with CM Punk on the cover, 2K will make sure every player can access the full roster of features regardless of their hardware.
