The team at Embark Studios is keeping the momentum going with their second big update of 2026. Patch 1.12.0 is now live for players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While it might seem like a small download, it actually fixes some really annoying problems that players have been talking about for weeks. The biggest fix is for the Stella Montis map, which is very popular for fighting other players. Some people had found ways to glitch outside of the map to hide or get an unfair advantage, but this new patch should finally put a stop to those tricks.

Beyond the map fixes, the update also cleans up some sneaky ways players were cheating. There was a bug that allowed people to duplicate their ammo and items, which was making the game less fair for everyone else. They also fixed a problem where players could sometimes get shot even when they were hiding safely behind a wall or a rock. It is great to see the developers listening to the community and fixing these technical issues so quickly, especially since the first update of the year just came out a week ago.

Even though this update is mostly about fixes, fans are still looking forward to new content. Many were hoping to see a new map condition called Toxic Swamp today, but it looks like we will have to wait just a little longer for that. Some players discovered early clues about this swamp by changing the date on their systems, so we know it’s coming soon. It sounds like it will be a tough challenge where you might lose health or stamina if you aren’t careful, similar to the cold storms we saw in December.

Looking at the bigger picture, 2026 is going to be a huge year for the game. The developers have already hinted that they are working on several brand-new maps of all different sizes. Some might be tiny and fast-paced like Stella Montis, while others could be even bigger than anything we have seen yet. There are even rumors of a new area near a volcano based on things characters say in the game. The studio says they will share a official plan for the next few months very soon.

Finally, the team is working on making the game easier to play between matches. One of the most requested features is the ability to save your favorite gear setups so you can get back into the action faster. Right now, it takes a lot of time to pick out your equipment every time you want to go on a mission. The design team has admitted that they also find the current menus a bit slow, so a better system should be arriving later this year to help everyone get “topside” without the headache.
