The game is called 007 First Light. It is being made by IO Interactive. This is the same studio behind the Hitman games.
The game was first set to release on 27 March 2026. That date has now changed. The new release date is 27 May 2026. This means a delay of about 2 months.
The developers shared the news on social media. They explained that the game is their biggest project so far. They want to make sure it feels special from the very first day.
They said the extra time will help improve the overall quality. The game is already fully playable from start to finish. The delay is only for polishing and fine tuning.
007 First Light tells the story of a younger James Bond. He is more reckless. He is still trying to earn his licence to kill.
The lead role is played by Patrick Gibson. He is known for Dexter Original Sin and The OA.
Singer Lenny Kravitz is also part of the cast. He will play the villain named Bawma. His exact role in the story has not been fully revealed yet.
When will 007 First Light release?
Even though the wait is longer, the developers say it will be worth it. Fans can now expect the game to arrive in late May 2026.
