Mumbai Indians are rightfully lauded as one of the greatest T20 franchises in the world and the most successful Indian Premier League team in history, after they successfully defended their IPL champions crown and won their 5th IPL trophy at Dubai on the 10th of November 2020 against the Delhi Capitals.
Rohit Sharma has been at the helm as the captain of this franchise right from 2013, when he was handed the reigns of captaincy mid-way through the season by Ricky Ponting. Rohit led Mumbai to their maiden IPL title that season and has since followed it up with 4 more titles in the last 7 years. A lot has been spoken about the ‘DNA’ of this franchise and what makes them so successful, and their captain Rohit Sharma has now opened up on what makes his team and management so successful. “Did the team just become good overnight?” No. It’s just that this franchise doesn’t believe in chopping and changing. And every player, including Rohit Sharma, was available at [ the 2011] auctions. Just that MI picked and believed in building a team.”
Rohit Sharma has been working hard on his fitness and rehab to overcome a hamstring injury he picked during the IPL 2020 tournament. There are concerns whether he would be fit in time to make to the test squad for Team India’s tour of Australia.
