Kannada action thriller film, Kantara, which was released on 30th September 2022, had a dream run at the box office as it became the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, earning 450 crores worldwide. Actor-director, Rishab Shetty, played the titular role in the film, besides directing it, which had an ensemble cast of Sapthami Gowda, Achyuth Kumar and Pramod Shetty among others.
During an event, Shetty announced that they are planning a prequel for Kantara, Kantara 1 and what the viewers saw was actually the second part of the film.
He was quoted as saying, “We are very pleased and thankful to announce who had shown immense love and support to Kantara and taking the journey ahead, with the blessing of Almighty Daiva, the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara”, as per a report in ANI.
He further added that the prequel was already in his mind while he was shooting for Kantara. Without indulging into further details, he asked the audience to wait for the film, which is expected to release next year, while promising that it is going to be more massive and grand than before.
Meanwhile, Kantara recently completed 100 days at the box office. The film was very well received by the critics with praise specifically directed to Shetty’s performance.
