Indian opener Rohit Sharma opened up on the criticization over the pitch condition of Chennai in the second match between India and England. The pitch was rough and have excess help for the spinners because of which Indian spinners Ashwin and Axar Patel put pressure on the English batsmen. Not a single England’s batsman scored 50+ runs in the match.
Rohit Sharma who played an astonishing inning of 161 runs in the first inning of the match expresses his opinion over the issue. He said that the conditions are the same for both teams and India used to make the pitches like this for ages.
“Pitch is same for both the teams. So, I don’t know why this conversation goes on that pitch should be this or that. Both teams play on the same pitch and If people talk about the pitch and want changes in that, they should consider that the Indian pitches are like these for ages now. I don’t think any change occurs and any change needed because everyone takes advantage of their home ground,”
He also said that every other team takes advantage of home conditions and that is the difference between home and away tours. Every team has the right to home advantage and that should not be criticized.
“When we tour other countries they take the advantages of their conditions, they don’t think for us. We will continue to do things according to our team’s preference. This is the difference between home and away advantage,” he further added.
