Shikhar Dhawan becomes the first batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League to score back-to-back centuries in the tournament. The 34-year-old delivered his recent performance in the 38th match of the Dream11 IPL 2020 against the Kings XI Punjab at Dubai scoring 106 runs in just 61 balls. The Delhi born Indian cricketer had scored a century in the previous match as well, against the Chennai Super Kings at Sharjah in match 34 of the IPL 2020 tournament scoring 101 runs in just 58 balls.

Dhawan now sits second on the Orange Cap list(leading run-scorer of the tournament) with 465 runs so far this season, behind KL Rahul who is ahead by 66 runs with a total of 531 runs so far. Another intriguing aspect of Shikhar’s form has been that he has now scored 333 runs in just his last 4 innings in the competition depicting that he is in one of the best purple patches of his career.
Shikhar Dhawan had never scored a century in his IPL career prior to his previous game against CSK and had gone a total of 264 T20 games without a century in his career before accomplishing consecutive ones. Shikhar Dhawan had also completed both his centuries against CSK and KXIP in similar deliveries faced. He scored both the 100s in just 57 balls with a strike rate of above 170.

Shikhar Dhawan completed another milestone in the match against Kings XI, becoming only the 5th player ever in the history of IPL to register more than 5000 runs scored in the tournament throughout and the 4th Indian to do so on the list behind Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and David Warner.
