Bollywood celebrities who own sports teams in India

Bollywood stars have known to own sports teams for a long time now.

Bollywood in itself is quite a booming industry. However, the concept of indulging into other businesses on the side isn’t uncommon. We shall look into some Bollywood celebrities who decided to invest into sports and own or co-own such sport teams.

1.) Shah Rukh Khan

Rightly titled the Badshah of Bollywood, megastar Shah Rukh Khan has proved his mettle in acting as well as producing, with his production company Red Chillies Entertainment. Besides that, he is also the co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Besides these, Khan also owns sports teams abroad, including Cape Town Knight Riders, Trinbago Knight Riders, and LA Knight Riders.

2.) John Abraham

Bollywood actor John Abraham is known for his obsession with fitness and sports, and his body is proof of that. Having recently turned vegan, the Race 2 actor is also known for his love for football, having played the game in one of his movies, ‘Goal’. He has invested into the Indian Super League (ISL) side, Northeast United FC, a successful team that represents the eight North East India states, namely Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram.

3.) Tapsee Pannu

Actress Tapsee Pannu is known for her love for sports, having starred in sports centric movies like Rashmi Rocket, Saand Ki Aankh, and Soorma. The Pink actress invested in a badminton team Pune 7 Aces in 2018, which competed in the 2018-2019 season of the Premier Badminton League. Her upcoming movie, Shabaash Mithu, is based on the life of former cricketing great Mithali Raj.

4.) Akshay Kumar

A paragon of fitness, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is also an ardent lover of sports. He had invested in the kabaddi team, Khalsa Warriors, and later decided to invest in the Kolkata-based Pro-Kabaddi League franchise Bengal Warriors in 2017.
