BJP leader Piyush Goyal counters Rahul Gandhi’s claim of stock market scam on June 4

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reacted to the comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the stock market crash on June 4. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the former Congress President is trying to create fear among investors and labelled his accusations as baseless.

Responding to Gandhi’s allegations, the BJP leader said that it is the grand old party’s conspiracy to malign BJP and that market has boomed under the leadership of PM Modi.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were directly involved in what he described as “the biggest stock market scam” wherein the retail investors lost over Rs. 30 lakh crore. The politician demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe into it.

While addressing a press conference, Goyal stated that Gandhi has still not recovered from his loss at recent Lok Sabha elections, and accused him of trying to mislead the investors. He asserted that the Indian economy has become the fifth largest economy globally.

He added that we cannot overlook the fact that today India’s equity market entered the market cap of the top five economies of the world.
