Cricket West Indies has yet not confirmed their tour with the Bangladesh Cricket Board as they are looking for a short tour instead of the proposed length of the series. Cricket West Indies had sent their two members to Bangladesh to check the facilities in the country by the BCB.
West Indies are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in the earlier part of January. A Board official has said that they will give there final decision in few days. The members who visited Bangladesh have rated the facilities as satisfactory. The CWI stated that they will consider everything before confirming the tour.
CWI added that they will have a really packed 2021 and they will need to cut short the tour which was proposed earlier by the BCB. BCB had proposed a full tour earlier with 3 ODI’s, 3 tests and 2 T20’s. The CWI proposed a new schedule cancelling 2 T20’s and 1 test in the tour.
BCB CEO in his official statement said that the West Indies do want to play but they want a short tour. The main reason being the time period they will be spending outside their home. He gave example of the recently cancelled tour of South Africa and England. He also added that they are ready to cut short the tour and talk with the CWI.
Bangladesh had to cancel a lot of their tours due to the COVID-19 pandemic as they had miss matches against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand.
