AUS vs IND: India redeem themselves from the Adelaide horror as they win the second test

The Indian team have avenged the Adelaide loss as they beat Australia by 8 wickets.

With this victory, the Indian team has levelled the series 1-1 and have set up for a exciting third test.

Australia won the toss and chose to bat first at the Boxing day test. The Indian bowlers were spot on with their bowling as they didn’t let anyone from the Australian batting side set for a long time. Labuschagne provided some resistance along with Wade and Head. This is the first time in 32 years that no Australian batsman got to 50 in both innings.

The Indian bowling was dominant as they didn’t let anyone to settle for long time. Indian bowlers have made sure that Australia’s key batsman didn’t get any room to make runs as they have kept him quite. In the first innings, Bumrah was the star with ball as picked 4 wickets. Mohammad Siraj who was on debut in this match also impressed with ball as he got key wickets on Labuschagne and Green. Ashwin got the crucial wickets in the innings as he got Steve Smith out for a duck in the first innings. He also got the Aussie opener Mathew Wade and the Australian captain Tim Paine. Jadeja picked 1 as well as he wrapped the Australian first innings for 195.

The Indian batting was a dominant one as they scored 326 in their first innings and got a lead of 131.

For India, Captain Rahane was the tope scorer as he played a marathon innings of 112. He was well supported by Jadeja in the middle who also scored a decent 57. The top order didn’t have any other performer than the debutant Shubhman Gill who had a great first outing in test cricket as he scored a solid 45. Pant was looking threatening but didn’t take it far as he got out on 29.

Australian bowlers had a long day as they bowled 115 overs in total. Starc and Lyon got 3 each. Cummins bagged a couple and Hazelwood after that lethal spell in Adelaide got only 1 wicket.

Indian team came to bowl with 131 run lead which had them in comfortable position. Wade once again played a long knock of 40 off 137 deliveries. Labuschagne once again looking threatening couldn’t make much impact as he got out just before the Tea break on the Third day. Smith didn’t have a great match once again in this series as he got out to Bumrah. The Aussie middle order was exposed and they were in trouble as they lost three quick wickets. Green and Cummins provided the resistance that was needed and got the lead overturned just before the end of Day 3. Australia came in to bat on Day 4 with a 2 run lead. Australia were looking comfortable as the ball was old and wasn’t helping much. But as soon as the Indian team got the new ball, it worked for them as they got Cummins soon after the new ball was in play. Siraj got Green in the second innings as well. The Australian tail provided minor contributions as the bottom three scored a total of 27 runs. The Australian innings was wrapped up on 200. India needed 70 to win the second test and level the series 1-1.

Indian innings began well as Gill was looking confident against likes of Cummins and Starc. Agarwal was looking good for his short stay but eventually fell to Starc once again. Pujara came in and was soon dismissed in the very next over by Cummins. The Indian captain came in after Pujara fell and took on Cummins immediately showing his positive intent. Gill and Rahane got India over the line comfortably as they won this match by 8 wickets. With this victory, India has levelled the 4-match series 1-1.

Rahane was declared as The Player of the Match for his match winning knock of 112 in the first innings.
