Nathan Lyon, the off spinner from New South Wales has set his eyes to cross the 500 wickets mark and wants to go beyond that mark. In a recent interview to FOX Sports, he made his future goals clear to get 500 wickets. He added that he is not only looking at crossing that mark but also go much ahead of that figure. He also said that he is still learning and getting better day by day. He also feels that he has a lot cricket left in him and can offer a lot to the Australian Cricket.
Lyon made his test debut for Australia back in 2011 against Sri Lanka in Galle. His first scalp in Test Cricket is Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara. He became second Australian to get wicket on the first ball of their test career. He ended with figures of 5/34 which made him 15th Australian player to get fifer on their debut. Lyon surpassed the legendary Australian off spinner Hugh Trumble in the year 2015 making him the most successful Australian off spinner.
Nathan Lyon is quite decent with his batting as well, as he has scored 1031 runs in 96 matches with a highest score of 47 runs. His lower order batting has made him Rank 20 in the ICC Rankings for All rounders in test cricket. He is currently at No. 16 in ICC’s bowlers rankings.
He will be facing India in his next series where he will play against the likes of Pujara and Rahane.
