The vessel is now expected to deliver its cargo to Tanga Port on 21 March after loading fuel at Sohar Port.

The departure comes at a time when maritime traffic in the Gulf has been severely disrupted due to escalating tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel. Over the past two weeks, commercial shipping activity around the Strait of Hormuz has slowed significantly as Iran targets regional interests in response to what it describes as United States and Israeli military strikes.

The strait is one of the most strategically important energy corridors in the world, with roughly a fifth of global oil trade passing through its narrow waters each day. Any disruption in this corridor immediately affects global energy markets and maritime insurance costs.

According to Rajesh Kumar Sinha, India’s Special Secretary at the Ministry of Shipping, four Indian flagged vessels had been stranded east of the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman as of Thursday. One of those vessels, the Jag Prakash, has now departed. However, three Indian ships remain on the eastern side of the strait with 76 Indian sailors on board, while 24 Indian flagged vessels remain stuck west of the strait in the Persian Gulf, carrying a total of 677 Indian seafarers.

The situation reflects the growing vulnerability of global maritime logistics as geopolitical tensions spill into critical sea lanes. Adding to the uncertainty, Iran’s newly installed supreme leader has reportedly declared that the country intends to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed as leverage against the United States and Israel.

If enforced, such a move could trigger a major disruption in global oil and fuel supply chains, forcing tankers to delay voyages or reroute through longer and more expensive shipping corridors. For India, which relies heavily on Gulf energy imports and maritime trade, the safety of Indian flagged vessels and seafarers operating in the region remains a strategic concern.

Maritime analysts note that even limited instability around the Strait of Hormuz can ripple through global energy markets, freight rates, and insurance premiums, making the security of this narrow waterway one of the most closely watched developments in international shipping today.

A fuel tanker flying the Indian flag has departed from waters east of the Strait of Hormuz after being temporarily…

[6,7,1
1486,2388
post-4817","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-india","category-middle-east","category-news","tag-strait-of-hormuz","tag-tanker-jag-prakash
["GET
