During the night, a massive drone attack, which started in Ukraine, landed into the southern Russian port city of Novorossiysk<\/a>, injuring at least five people and damaging an estimated twenty residential and commercial buildings, said local authorities in the region. The attack was one of the largest drone attacks to have been carried out in recent months. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, aerial defence systems intercepted and neutralized 172 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, 67 of them in the Black Sea<\/a>, and 66 in the Krasnodar<\/a> region, where Novorossiysk is<\/a> located. In spite of these interceptions, a number of drones defied the defense mechanisms and hit urban areas causing property damage and civilian fatalities. The emergency<\/a> services were working 24 hours long through the night to put out the fires and determine the extent of the damage on the buildings.<\/p>\n

Novorossiysk has got significant strategic importance to the Russian Federation<\/a>.
