In a statement released late Friday, Save the Children reported that clashes in the surrounding area have blocked safe access routes, preventing humanitarian workers from delivering food, water, and medicines to the camp. The warning came one week after Syrian government forces took control of Al-Hol, which houses more than 24,000 people, the majority of them women and children, including family members linked to the Daesh group. According to Save the Children, fighting around the camp last week forced aid agencies to temporarily suspend regular operations, while the main road leading to the site remains unsafe. The organization emphasized that the inability to maintain basic services is placing children at heightened risk in an environment that was already extremely dangerous prior to the latest escalation.

Ceasefire Efforts Continue as Humanitarian Access Remains Uncertain

The situation at Al-Hol has unfolded against the backdrop of shifting control in eastern and northeastern Syria following intense fighting earlier this month between government forces and the Kurdish-led, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. Forces loyal to interim President Ahmad Al-Sharaa captured wide areas during the clashes, after which the SDF agreed to end the fighting following significant losses. Despite that agreement, sporadic clashes have continued, contributing to persistent insecurity around key infrastructure. Save the Children’s Syria country director, Rasha Muhrez, conveyed that the humanitarian situation at Al-Hol was rapidly deteriorating as essential supplies dwindled and warned that children would face increased risks if aid operations could not resume. She stressed that all parties to the conflict bore responsibility for ensuring a safe humanitarian corridor to allow basic services to restart and to protect vulnerable residents, noting that lives depended on such access. Separately, the SDF announced on Friday that it had reached a new agreement with the central government aimed at stabilizing the ceasefire and outlining steps toward integrating the force into national army and police structures, a move intended to reduce violence and restore a measure of stability.

An international humanitarian organization has issued an urgent warning about worsening conditions at Al-Hol camp in northeast Syria, where essential…

[7
979,732,935
post-1844","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-middle-east","tag-al-hol","tag-daesh-group","tag-syrian-democratic-forces
["GET
