On Tuesday, the president of the United States Donald Trump said that the Russian president Vladimir Putin had deferred a promise not to attack Ukraine in the next week despite the fact that the Russian armies were reported to have continued unleashing heavy strikes earlier than the time was felt that a week had passed. In an interview with journalists, Trump explained the knowledge as being Sunday-to-Sunday.

It was Sunday to Sunday, and it opened up. And he struck them a blow last night, Trump said. He also said that Putin had fulfilled his promise of the promised time and it was notable that even a temporary stop was profound in light of the harsh winter in Ukraine. Trump also reported that he had directly talked with Putin and that he would want the war to end.

When Trump was making his statements, the temperature in Kyiv was approximately zero degrees Fahrenheit, and the prognosis showed that the cold will continue to freeze over the coming days. Earlier that day (Thursday), Trump had already indicated that he requested Putin not fire upon Kyiv and other cities a week because it had been very cold but he never noted when this would commence.

On Monday night, through till Tuesday, the Russian troops attacked Ukrainian power plants and electrical systems in Kyiv and other regions. According to the reports by the foreign ministry of Ukraine, the Russian army deployed about 450 drones and over 60 missiles during those attacks. On Sunday individually, an earlier Russian assault is claimed to have taken the lives of 12 coal miners in Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Although Trump said the pause would last between Sunday and Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that Ukraine had anticipated the pause in attacks to be extended until Tuesday. Zelensky noted the break was suspected to have started on Jan. 30, but this was not made public.

According to the words of the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump was not surprised that Russia attacked once again. She explained to reporters that the president considered the situation to be in line with the realities of a long-term and a severe conflict. Leavitt pointed out that the war was several years old and he described it as being very devastating.

Leavitt also reported that Trump Special envoy, Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner were to travel to Abu Dhabi to conduct another round of the trilateral negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. She cited their earlier mediation of an October accord that terminated the large scale fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza Strip.
