PM Narendra Modi launches 5G services in India

The promised benefits of 5G services include lag-free connectivity and speeds a thousand times quicker than those of existing 4G services.

At the opening ceremony of the India Mobile Congress, which begins today and ends on October 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the introduction of 5G cellular services. The 5G telecom services are designed to offer smartphones and other networking devices ultra-high-speed internet access. Three significant Indian telecom oligopolies, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, also attended the 5G launch event. The use cases were each exhibited by one of the three telecom providers to highlight the possibilities of 5G technology in India in the coming months.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India jointly conduct the India Mobile Congress (COAI). The Prime Minister visited the pavilions set up by several telecom carriers after announcing the launch of 5G services in India at the event.

He witnessed at the Reliance Jio booth and used the Jio Glass to experience the 5G virtual reality. At the booths set up by Airtel, Vodafone Idea, C-DOT, and other companies, the Prime Minister saw additional tech demonstrations. At the expo, numerous other demos will be performed in front of the prime minister, such as automatic guided cars and drone-based precision farming.

An official statement read, “5G can unleash new economic opportunities and societal benefits, giving it the potential for being a transformational force for Indian society. It will help the country leapfrog the traditional barriers to development, spur innovations by startups and business enterprises as well as advance the ‘Digital India’ vision.” According to experts, the development of 5G telecom services might boost the Indian economy by around Rs. 3,64,000 crore between 2023 and 2040.

According to reports, 5G connectivity is up to 10 times quicker than 4G. Even in heavily populated locations, it is thought to be able to deliver connections with extremely low latency and fast speeds. Solutions like e-health, augmented reality, driverless vehicles, cutting-edge mobile cloud gaming, and more may tremendously benefit from these capabilities.
