Facebook introduces Quiet Mode for users to ‘focus on tasks and family’

Facebook has introduced a feature for its mobile app called the Quiet Mode, which allows its users to turn off push notifications. With this, now the app users can decide a time frame during which they do not want any notifications buzzing on their phone.

Introduced to help in minimising the distractions and helping users set limitations and balance their schedule in the global lockdown situation.

It is said that this feature would prove to be very useful for the people who are working from home and managing families. With this feature, the users could concentrate more on their tasks and waste less time on the app.

“Whether it’s to help you focus on your family and friends, sleep without distraction or manage how you spend your time at home, we have tools that can help you find the right balance for how you use Facebook,” Facebook in its COVID-19 Newsroom post informed.

Also, if a user opens the app when their time frame has not been exhausted, a reminder will be sent to the users informing them about their set time-frame.

“We added Quiet Mode, which mutes most push notifications, and if you try to open Facebook while in Quiet Mode, you’ll be reminded that you set this time aside to limit your time in the app,” the blogpost continued.

Facebook users can also manage what they wish to see by setting News Feed preferences. Apart from this, shortcuts for notification settings have also been brought about. According to Facebook, users will then have more control over the types of posts they see as well as the updates they would receive.
