Tanishq has withdrawn another ad after once again #BoycottTanishq trended on Twitter. This is a second such incident when Tata Group’s Tanishq had to face several controversies over its advertisements and eventually withdrew the ad.
The new controversy comes over the new ‘Ekatvam Ad’ for Diwali that casts actresses Neena Gupta, Sayani Gupta, Nimrat Kaur, and Alaya Furniturewala. The ad narrates a daughter wishing to celebrate this Diwali with his mother. Sayani Gupta says that she would spend some time with her mother and will not burst firecrackers. “I am hoping to be able to meet my mum after really long. Definitely no firecrackers, I don’t think anyone should light any firecrackers. But a lot of diyas, a lot of laughter hopefully and a lot of positivity,” she said. But it was not taken well by social media.
Sayani Gupta was trolled by some Twitter users over a tweet that requested people not to buy firecrackers, instead buy diyas and sweets.

On her tweet, a Twitter user replied: “Every Diwali I buy firecrackers & diyas from guys who are really in need of some money & then distribute them to a family who can’t afford them.”

While Nupur Sharma Editor at OpIndia reacted to this ad saying that the ad team is leading the company to ‘plummet to death’.

BJP National General Secretary and MLA from Cikkamagaluru, advice the company to focus on selling their products instead of giving a lecture on bursting firecrackers.
Why should anyone advice Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals?
Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers.
We will light lamps, distribute sweets and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam. https://t.co/EfmNNDXWFD

Tanishq’s last Ekatvam Ad was tagged as ‘Love Jihad’, Tanishq was trolled over social media for showing an inter-caste marriage which portrayed Hindu-Muslim unity.
It was pulled down after social media users mostly right-wing viciously trolled it. The #BoycottTanishq hashtag trended all day over Twitter and therefore, the video was turned to the private mode on YouTube. The pioneer of jewellery was accused of promoting “Love Jihad” and inter-faith marriages.
