MeitY launches Cyber Security Grand Challenge 2.0 with Rs 6.85 crore prize pool

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the second edition of the Cyber Security Grand Challenge (CSGC 2.0) in collaboration with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI). The initiative aims to foster innovation in cybersecurity, with a substantial prize pool of ₹6.85 crore, nearly double the ₹3.2 crore from the first edition.

  • Registration Period: January 15 to February 14, 2025.
  • Focus Areas: Solutions are invited for six problem statements, including:
    • API Security
    • Data Protection
    • Wearable Privacy
    • Clone App Mitigation
    • AI Threat Detection
    • Biometric Security

Structure of the Challenge:

  1. Stages:
    • Idea Stage: Six startups per problem statement will receive ₹5 lakh each.
    • MVP Stage: 18 startups will be selected, with ₹10 lakh awarded to each.
    • Final Stage: Winners for each problem statement will receive ₹25 lakh.
    • Go-to-Market Stage: The Platinum Winner will receive ₹1 crore, the Gold Winner ₹50 lakh, and the Silver Winner ₹25 lakh.
  2. Support: Participants will receive mentorship and market access to enhance their solutions and readiness for commercialization.

Government’s Vision:

Launching the challenge, Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, emphasized its alignment with the goals of Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The initiative is designed to enhance India’s cybersecurity capabilities while promoting indigenous innovation.
