Some puzzles are tougher than others. If today’s Connections puzzle has you stumped, we have some tips and hints to help you out. And if you’re still scratching your head, we’ll provide today’s answers at the end.

How to Play NYT Connections

In Connections, you start with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to categorize these words into four groups of four, based on the hidden connections between them. These connections can span a variety of themes, such as video game titles, book series, shades of colors, or restaurant chains.

Often, words may seem to fit multiple categories, but there’s only one correct solution. To aid your process, you can shuffle the grid and rearrange the words to better identify potential links.

Each group is color-coded for difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest). Select four words and hit Submit. If correct, the words are removed, revealing their connecting theme. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake, and you’re limited to four mistakes before the game ends.
